What is Project ENGAGE?
ENGAGE is an acronym for Enriching our Neighborhood Through Generous Actions, Growth and Empowerment. Project ENGAGE has been designed to encourage and empower students, families and staff of the Mehlville School District to give back to the community through service. We use Project ENGAGE to teach students that giving back to your community is part of developing good character. It encompasses service learning, character education, volunteerism and a sense of community.

How?
Students and families can participate in Project ENGAGE through school-wide projects, family projects or individual projects. Every project, regardless of how large or small, should include a component of reflection. Students should be asked to think about how it feels to give back, to return service to the community. They should be asked to reflect on the impact their time and service can have on others and on themselves.

Why?
Project ENGAGE is a district-wide effort to engage our students, families and staff in giving back to the Mehlville community through Service Learning Opportunities. Developing character and citizenship in our students is part of our call as educators. Project ENGAGE also allows the Mehlville School District community to learn about our surround community. It also helps us teach our students how to find the value in helping others.
